Welcome to AutisticSpectrumNews.com More ResearchWell, it's not much but it is new research "The white matter that weaves together the myriad parts of the developing brain takes all of childhood and beyond to fully join all the functions and memories of an adult. I guess more research is good but it just doesn't seem like enough. It's Scary That This Is newsPlease excuse me for my sarcasm, but this wasn't news to us five years ago when our daughter's pediatrician told us that our daughter was fine and we were just "over reacting". A new study finds few pediatrician screen patients regularly for autism and autism-spectrum disorders (ASD) as part of their overall look at possible developmental delays Anyone who wonders why the parents of autistic children have such little faith in the medical profession need only ask us how our first experiences were. First we were over concerned parents and our daughter would outgrow the phase she was in once she was around other children. Then we became bad parents who didn't have our child looked at sooner. Then we were told the harsh realities that our child would never show signs of affection, or imagination, or creativity. In case you're wondering none of the above statements are/were true. No I don't believe in conspiracy theories, but I don't take anything at face value just because a doctor said it. |
